Description
“Radio Gelato” as 7″ vinyl single from Rheinschallplatten label. Limited to 566 pcs.
Eric Pfeil about the single: “Originally released digitally on Trikont in 2014, the song was my early, very naive attempt at an Italopop invocation. Back then, when I played various reference songs to my producer Ekki Maas to find the sound, he rubbed his hands with glee and said, “Great, finally I can fit all the forbidden sounds into one track.” And so it happened. The song did not become the hoped-for summer hit at that time. Except in Stuttgart, where I’ve been considered a one-hit wonder in two or three households ever since.
The highlight of the single is on the other side (“Radio Gelato” is a double A-side). There, in fact, my friends from MONDO SANGUE serve up their “1981-original mix” that overtakes Ricchi e Poveri without a helmet on their souped-up Vespa on the hard shoulder. A big thanks for this to Yvy Pop and Christian Bluthardt. Thanks also to Ina Kristina Kalvelage for the cover and Thomas Rhein and Markus Rhein, on whose label the record appears today courtesy of Trikont.
Insomma: L’estate sta finendo. If you were looking for a song to quietly whisper “Ciao” to summer – here it is! The single is rarer than bike paths in Naples and should be available at your trusted record seller.”
