Despite the enormous number of compilations dedicated to Italian soundtracks this CD also presents music out of this field. But this time we focus on the vocal interpreters, since in most cases they have been neglected unpardonably (except maybe in the perception of Ennio Morricone’s work).
More precisely: It’s all about "crooning”, the real deep Italian sentiment, sometimes schmaltzy, sometimes sexy, but always touchingly intense. Compiling this CD DJ Freddy directed his special attention to the expressive voice and the extraordinary performance. Indeed there’s a complete filmography included, but here filmhistorical relevance has been put behind actual "club-suitability".

The featured artists are mostly unknown to
a bigger audience. They usually had to stay in the background behind
great composers (like in this case e.g.: Francesco De Masi, Nico
Fidenco or Stelvio Cipriani) or movie titles (like: "Hanging
for Django", "Sartana does not forgive" or "Emanuelle
and the last cannibals").
Additionally this CD shall be a tribute to the Roman Beat Records label, which has been releasing many many soundtracks and other songs of these "crooners” for more than 30 years.
Statistics: Half of the number of titles on this CD (8) has been previously unreleased on CD. The vinyl originals are out of print for many years.
BEISPIELE / SAMPLES
scorebaby [01/03]: "Stylistically, the songs range from swaggering beat balladry to lyrical troubadour folk. Even if you don't speak Italian (only a couple of tracks are sung in English), you aren't likely to miss the message in this highly emotive movie music."
