Get hold of a helmet and plunge into the garage surf'a'billy world called Dexter, a wound up showcase of pure psycho easy and a fine example of the quick.
Dexter tuned up with acts like: Speedball Baby, the Ex, the Onyas, the Cheater Slicks, the Drags, the Donnas, Scared Of Chaka and the Loudmouths.
The record is titled 'Snackhouse' and contains 18 songs recorded on four different locations, it lasts 38 minutes and is sparklin' brilliant. There are the take-charge thick thundertunes from the cd.demo Chevron, salty frozen mini-girlshuffles and sweaty bullfight pasodobles from two different four-track sessions and on top of it all lay a couple of ruthless one-track instant harakiri Dexters, tasty like the staggering billy allscore snacklounge sound itself.

Dexter sind jedenfalls keine 'Eins, zwei, drei, Knüppel frei!'-Rock'n'Roll Band; erlesene Versatzstücke des Genres von Buddy Holly über Dick Dale bis zu den Oblivians werden hier durch den Fleischwolf gedreht und auf teilweise eingängige, teiweise verstörende Weise neu zusammenmontiert. Schon der Begriff Song trifft es nicht wirklich: Oft handelt es sich um verdrehte Ansätze von Songs, die, durchaus atmosphärisch, kaum dass sie richtig losgescheppert haben, nach einer Minute zwölf schon wieder rüde abgebrochen werden. Das ist, was dieser LP der wohl am meisten nach Crypt klingenden Band der Welt, die nicht auf Crypt ist, gar etwas jazzartig Freies gibt. Trotz der deutlich herauszuhörenden kompositorischen Eigenwilligkeit sind Dexter eine prima Liveband, und Hits gibt's unter den 18 Stücken auch zuhauf."
